Nashville Affordable Housing Task Force Helps The Needy Through Partnership With The Goodness Project - GOOD News!

The Metro Development and Housing Authority (MDHA) Affordable Housing Task Force in Nashville, Tennessee teamed up with local businessman and philanthropist James (Junior) Hampton along with The Goodness Project under the leadership of Zak Halverson; team leader for The Goodness Project.

Triple Partnership

Mr. Hampton has always conducted toy drives and this year teamed up with The Goodness Project to purchase a large quantity of bicycles to go along with hundreds of toys. Mr. Hampton then contacted the MDHA Task Force and inquired about how they could help distribute the items he collected during his toy drive, creating a triple partnership!

The MDHA Task Force devised a plan to meet with several MDHA property managers and we spoke with several other community stakeholders, including teachers in order to figure out who some of our most vulnerable and struggling MDHA tenants were.  With the information provided, they reached out to the various families within the MDHA communities with an offer to assist with their holiday plans by providing various toys, bikes, and other goodies to their young children.

Getting the Gifts Ready

All groups worked together to build bikes and prepare presents for the children.

Spreading The Love!

Sgt. Jon McWright of the MDHA Task Force told us how on December 23, 2020, the MDHA Task Force (assisted by family members), delivered over 16 bikes/riding toys, books, art activities, stocking filled with treats, and too many toys to mention to 13 different families in need.  The MDHA communities we were able to help included: Cheatham Place, Edgehill, Tony Sudekum, JC Napier, Cumberland View, CWA Apartments, and Andrew Jackson.

Zak and the Nashville team of The Goodness Project want to thank Mr. Hampton and the Metro Development and Housing Authority (MDHA) Affordable Housing Task Force in Nashville, Tennessee for their partnership to bring more Christmas smiles!

We want to thank you for partnering with us to provide help and hope to families in crisis!
