If you watch any news about COVID-19, much of it justifiably centers on the disease itself.

In the U.S., there is coverage around the ongoing debate and usage of masks, mask and vaccines mandates, and other treatment options.

Because many areas of the U.S. have opened back up, we don’t necessarily hear about other countries and their struggles with administrative burdens and their economic impact.

In Canada, some of the freedoms we enjoy here are not available.  The regulations and administrative burden due to COVID, CBC News reports Canada’s GDP declined by 5.4% in 2020 (its worst year on record), making it one of the hardest-hit economies in the world.

Religious freedom has also been taken away, particularly for Christian pastors.

One Canadian pastor was jailed and fined over $200,000 because his church continued to meet in defiance of government regulations.

Closed borders, social distancing, and difficulties for small businesses are all challenges Canadians have faced. That means getting support for at-risk people is also difficult!

But The Goodness Project got creative and worked with our partners to get resources into the community

We partnered with Glad Tidings Church and set up a “pop-up shop” – a temporary place where we provided children’s clothing.  In order to accommodate COVID restrictions, we scheduled people to come in at various times.

A volunteer talks about the beauty of community at the Goodness Pop Up Shop in conjunction with Glad Tidings Church in Burlington, Ontario. Families received brand new clothing so that their kids could have clothing to go back to school.

We met with our Canadian partners and introduced them to ways they could reach at-risk people groups in ways that conformed to government restrictions.

We have a lot of events planned for the fall, including a coat drive in Windsor. The Goodness Project will continue to innovate in order to help those in need!

We got creative and worked with our partners to get resources into the community.

“We are passionate about revealing God’s love to everyone, everywhere by building authentic relationships and strategic partnerships that transform our community to reflect God’s values”

Thank you to our Partners at Glad Tidings Church for the love you share locally and globally!
