November 2021 - The Goodness Report

Is it possible to be thankful in a time with such anxiety and challenges?  Yes! In fact, we stand together in an attitude of gratitude because even our trials and tribulations are used by God for our good and His glory.  We don’t minimize our sufferings – far be it.  But we join hearts and hands with those who are suffering, and we bless others as Christ has blessed us.

Come join me as we express our deep thanks to God and His people this year!

being made rich in every way for all generosity, which is producing through us thanksgiving to God, because the service of this ministry is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but also is overflowing through many expressions of thanksgiving to God

2 Corinthians 9:11–12

Giving Thanks

In this season of thanksgiving 2021, I suspect there are a large number of people wondering what to be thankful for!  It’s been such a strange, tense, difficult few years for millions of Americans and people around the world.  Many of us may be wondering if life will ever return to “normal,” or whether the future will be substantially different from what we thought it would be.

During challenging times we, as Christians, are refined and grown by the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit.  Obstacles and difficulties reveal our hearts – they show us our idols, our insecurities, and our sins.  Do we cling only to Christ, or do we hold on to things that will never truly satisfy?

God works in mysterious ways

Today’s key verse reminds us that God works in mysterious ways, and part of trusting Him completely is being generous and grateful – even when circumstances around us seem questionable.

When we read Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church, it is obvious they had their fair share of challenges!  Yet Paul reminds them that, even amidst tension and trial, we can be assured of God’s goodness and His purposes for our lives.  And for that, we can freely and winsomely be grateful.

From our gratitude flows an abundance of blessings which we are then privileged to share with others.  Though we must take care to openly receive blessing and help when we need it, thanksgiving ultimately generates…giving!  We give generously of our time, talent, and treasures in response to the gifts God has given us.  And The Goodness Project has certainly experienced both the giving and receiving of blessings this year.

In His Goodness,
